The Directors of Maritime Tidal Energy Corporation are committed to responsible environmental stewardship in every facet of the company’s business. The objective of harnessing renewable tidal energy is to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and MTEC is committed to introducing this technology to the marine environment in an ecologically responsible way.
All of MCT’s projects in the UK have included appropriate environmental assessments and environmental monitoring programs. Through these assessments, it has been determined that fish and marine animals naturally avoid a turbine in flowing water. Continuing in this approach, MTEC will undertake site specific environmental assessments and monitoring, prior to any placement of in-stream turbines in the Bay of Fundy. Further, MTEC has already started consultations with stakeholders such as fishers and shoreline communities.
